Charlie’s story:
“About a year ago, I recognised that I was at a critical life point. Through loss and personal issues the catalyst for change was sparked - I realised I needed a new-and-improved version of myself, and thus “Project Charlie” was born.
Initially, I focused on addressing my mental well being, however I soon realised I needed to address the physical aspect too.
As swimming is considered one of the best forms of exercise, I decided to turn my attention to the pool, (I now go three times a week for an hour each time!).
Then, a local gym owner recommended I try Pilates. I had dabbled in Pilates many years ago during spinal rehab from my past-life rugby player days, and so I thought, why not?
Working with Chloe from Ikigai Pilates on a 1- to -1 basis has been worth every second and every penny. Being able to progress at a rate she knows I am capable of has proven invaluable. Chloe has a delightful, enthusiastic approach that makes it enjoyable and fun - even when parts of your body are screaming!
With her expertise and knowing my background injuries (spinal condition), we have developed a program focusing on my core. The results - coupled with swimming 3x a week - have significantly enhanced my well-being and improved my overall balance and strength. Along with some lessons from a golf club pro, it has also helped me on the course with my golf swing and driving distance.”
I sound like a broken record but the proof of the ‘Pilates pudding’, truly is in the eating. Show up on the mat, stay consistent, eat well, form a discipline, get results. The formula is simple, however the work is far from it!
